Deep Hair Conditioner

One thing most people do for keeping hair healthy is get a deep hair conditioning treatment in a salon. Eventhough there is no cure to reverse split ends, a deep condition can help prevent some by keeping your hair moisturized well.

Salons apply a deep hair conditioner, wrap your hair in a plastic like material, and then set you under a low heat dryer. To save money and time at a salon, you can do this at home once a week (or two times a week if your hair is chemically challenged from perms and bleach). After washing your hair (the hot water and steam open the hair follicle) apply a deep hair conditioner - Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, Loreal Intensive treatment. Place a shower cap over your hair and step out of the shower, leave on for about half an hour. For extra treatment, dampen a towel, put it in the microwave for 15 seconds and wrap around your head over the shower cap (This will create more heat similar to the dryer in the salon and trap it in the shower cap).

How to Deep-Condition Hair?

Combat the damage of chemical treatments, heat styling, coloring and environmental pollution by deep-conditioning your hair on a regular basis. This will help replenish lost moisture and keep hair shiny and resilient. The following is the procedure as to how to deep condition the hair.

  • STEP 1: Evaluate your hair's needs and the time you have available. Different formulas propose different levels of conditioning, and treatment time can range from 2 to 60 minutes.
  • STEP 2: Select a formula that best suits you, and then consult your stylist to insure that the conditioner you have chosen will not interfere with your color treatment.
  • STEP 3: Shampoo your hair and towel dry (absorbing all excess moisture)
  • STEP 4: Place a quarter-size amount of conditioner in the palm of your hand and always use more conditioner for longer hair.
  • STEP 5: Rub your hands together gently to distribute conditioner.
  • STEP 6: Start at the hairline and apply conditioner from forehead to ends. Comb through hair for even distribution, applying a little extra to the ends of long hairs.
  • STEP 7: Massage scalp and relax for the time specified.
  • STEP 8: Rinse thoroughly and style as natural.

Applications of Deep Hair Conditioners

Deep Hair Conditioners are best suitable for curly hair or coarse curly hair. This will determine if you need a light product because coarse hair needs a good heavy-duty gel for organizing. A heavy gel would beset fine hair, and coarse hair will not have good "curl definition" with a light product. The golden rule is to never use a blow dryer without a diffuser at the end of it.

For a quick deep hair conditioning in the shower, gently squeeze any excess water from your hair and distribute the conditioner equally throughout your hair. Shave your legs to give the conditioner time to work. For a spa-like experience, light a candle and draw a bath after applying the conditioner. Clip your hair up or tuck it under a shower cap and rest in the tub for 20 minutes.
